Impotance of Sunnah Prayers in our Life

Sunnah refers to the actions that our Prophet ﷺ personally performed and demonstrated. Whatever deeds he did, whether in his personal life or through his guidance to the Sahaba and previous prophets, have been conveyed to us as Sunnah. Whenever the Prophet ﷺ wanted to teach something, whether worldly or religious, he would first demonstrate it himself. For example, when teaching Wudu, the Prophet ﷺ performed it himself first to show how it should be done. This was his method of teaching. One of his remarkable qualities was that he explained every matter with such ease and simplicity that those observing him would remember it immediately, even on the first occasion.

Benefits of Sunnah before Farz

Nowadays, many people consider only the Fard (obligatory) prayers as complete Salah, but this is not correct. Although Sunnah prayers have a lower status compared to Fard, deliberately neglecting them is a sin, and the reward of Fard prayers is also reduced without them. Praying Fard out of necessity, such as in a mosque, is acceptable, but performing Sunnah prayers afterwards is essential. Here are some important benefits of Sunnah prayers, which are described below.

  • Praying Sunnah helps the heart focus during Salah.
  • Continuously neglecting Sunnah can make it difficult to concentrate on Fard prayers.
  • Sunnah encourages a person to manage their time properly, thinking, “I should pray Sunnah before Fard.”
  • Following Sunnah strengthens our connection with the Prophet ﷺ and earns rewards equivalent to 100 martyrs.

How to Perform Sunnah Correctly

hm ny sunnah ki ahmait aur fawaid to jan lye ab bari ha sunnah ko ada krny ky tareeqy ko aksr hm sunnah ada to krty ha likn mistakes bhi krty ha jaisy misal ky tor py pani ko dekh ky pena 3 sanson ma peena aith ky peena aksr hm koi 1 ya zada avoid krdety ha ayen sunnah ki mukammal adigi ky kuch tareeqy zikr krty ha jo neechy darj zail ha

  • Perform Sunnah exactly as it was learned, without adding anything new of your own.
  • If one action includes 3 or 4 Sunnahs, complete all of them; doing just one is not sufficient, except in cases of necessity or urgent matters.
  • Perform Sunnah exactly as it was learned, without adding anything new of your own

Many of us often consider these things to be difficult, but the reality is that this is our pathway to Jannah. In Deen, nothing is possible. Without following the method of the Prophet ﷺ, we cannot truly earn Allah’s pleasure. It is our responsibility to act according to the way of the Prophet ﷺ, and we must follow his guidance exactly as it was taught.

Common Mistakes to Avoid in sunnah

Many common mistakes occur in the Sunnah practices of our daily life, and often we do not pay attention to them; instead, we ignore them. Making mistakes is human nature, but failing to correct them is wrong and can lead to Allah’s displeasure. Below, we highlight some common mistakes in Salah that relate to Sunnah, so we can become aware of them and improve.

Making Sunnah a Daily Habit

Now that we have learned the importance, virtues, and proper method of Sunnah, it is time for us to set a goal and make a promise to ourselves to turn Sunnah into a daily life habit. Our daily actions may seem ordinary, but when they are performed according to the way of the Prophet ﷺ, they become Sunnah. This shows that practicing Sunnah in daily life is actually very easy. The best way to maintain Sunnah throughout the day is to set small daily goals—for example, one day deciding to eat according to Sunnah, and the next day to rest according to Sunnah. In this way, following Sunnah in every action becomes easier. In today’s time, MashaAllah, many people are aware of how to follow Sunnah in daily activities such as eating, drinking, sleeping, walking, and even greeting others with love and kindness, which is also Sunnah. Our Kalimah itself teaches us that goodness lies in following the way of the Prophet ﷺ. Allah’s Prophet ﷺ sacrificed his entire life for us, yet today we often sacrifice many Sunnahs knowingly or unknowingly. We pray that Allah grants us the ability to practice every Sunnah in our daily lives. Ameen.
